FUNCTION: The Kauai Regional office is located at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waimea, Kauai.

The Information Technology Department is responsible for the overall evaluation, planning, analysis, development, improvement and support of the Kauai Region’s information technology systems and tools.

This position provides support for the Kauai Region of Hawaii Health Systems Corporation. This region currently includes Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH), Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), and Kauai Region Clinics (Waimea , Kalaheo, and Por Allen, Poipu, and Kapaa Clinic).

This position serves as a desktop support analyst who provides support to all technology users of the Kauai Region. This position is also responsible for implementing, maintaining, and supporting Kauai users, systems networks and telecommunications. This position works in coordination with Kauai Region analysts, HHSC helpdesk and analysts, and at times analysts from other HHSC regions. This position works with senior staff in testing network, desktop and/or systems applications. All duties and responsibilities will be mutually allocated between each Kauai Region facility, based upon their respective needs and criteria. This position requires travel to all facilities within the Kauai Region. May be subject to long and irregular hours, with evening, night, and weekend coverage as required. This position provides leave coverage for other members of the data processing team within the region.

The position reports to the IT Systems Manager.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements.  Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university. Major course work in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a closely related field preferred. Excess experience or responsibility in administrative, professional, technical, or analytical work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:  One and one half (1 ½) years of progressively responsible work experience in information technology which involved the systems analysis, design, programming, security and access management, database design and management, consulting, and/or installing and maintaining computer software applications, hardware, telecommunications, and web or network infrastructure equipment. The work must have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of information technology principles, methods, techniques and practices; computer hardware, software and peripheral equipment; and personal computer, server, mini and/or mainframe operating systems. Experience in a health care systems and setting preferred.
