SALARY: $3,829.00/month (BU10/HE07)

JOB LOCATION:  Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waimea, Kauai, HI

FUNCTION: This position is located at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH).  KVMH is part of the Kauai Region, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawaii operating 9 facilities statewide.

Primary functions of this position include work in an outpatient clinic or hospital and assists the clinical licensed staff by performing a variety of tasks to ensure that necessary patient care and related technical work are performed. This position may be assigned to work with different specialties and in other clinic locations within the Kauai Region organization. In addition, this position may be subject to work on shifts, including evenings, and weekends and/or holidays depending on the operational needs.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification Required:

  1. Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA) from the National Healthcare Association (NHA); Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologists (AMT); or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) must be obtained at time of appointment.
  2. Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association must be obtained at the time of appointment.  

Experience and Essential Knowledge and Abilities: One (1) year of progressively responsible work experience as a Medical Assistant in an Outpatient Clinic or similar health institution setting assisting professional licensed clinical staff in the provision of care to outpatient patients. Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of emergency medical practices, techniques and procedures; functional anatomy and human physiology.
