POSITION TITLE: MID-LEVEL PROVIDER- NURSE PRACTITIONER/PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
This position functions as a mid-level provider (NP/PA) for the HHSC- Kaua’i Region, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawaii. HHSC Kauai Region consist of Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital, Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital and Kauai Region Clinics which consist of Clinic at Waimea, Port Allen, Kalaheo, Specialty Clinic at Kalaheo, Urgent Care at Poipu, Specialty Clinic at Waimea.
The position will be under the direction and supervision of department physician(s) and will be providing patient care that includes but not limited to medical examination, diagnosis, treatment, referral, and education.
This position reports to the Kaua’i Region Chief Medical Officer.
LOCATION: This position is located at Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital of Kaua’i Region Healthcare Enterprises. The Kaua’i Region Healthcare Enterprises is a 501c3 tax exempt organization of which the HHSC –Kaua’i Region is its sole member. The HHSC Kaua’i Region consists of Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH), Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), and Kaua’i Region Clinics, which are part of the Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC), a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek.
***Possession of specific certifications and level of experience may be required for certain positions.***
Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing or a current certification for specialized and advance nursing practice in specialty area from an accredited program approved by a national certifying body recognized by the Board of Nursing or Graduation from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Extender program.
Licensure: Possession of a current license to practice medicine/nursing in the State of Hawaii.
Physician Extender Certified with Prescriptive Authority (non-controlled substance and controlled substance) from the State of Hawaii, Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs at the time of appointment.
Certifications: Current certification from the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers.
Selective Certification: Specialized knowledge, skills and abilities may be required to perform the duties of some positions. In such positions, applicants may be restricted to those who possess the pertinent experience and/or training required to perform the duties of the position.
The employee must demonstrate a high degree of personal integrity; skill and dedication in patient care; collaborative approach to relationships and problem solving; technical skills in quality assurance and performance improvement; knowledge and understanding of the CMS standards and process; effective written and verbal communication; competency and professionalism as a medical practitioner; and basic understanding of medical care/hospital reimbursement systems and practices.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee must be physically able to perform, efficiently and effectively, the essential duties of the position which typically require the ability to read without strain printed material the size of typewritten characters, glasses permitted, the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid; or the ability to compensate satisfactorily; may be exposed to infections and contagious diseases; and subject to irregular hours; many interruptions.
COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT
