SALARY: $24.53/hour + $2,047 (shortage differential) (SR20; BU73)
JOB LOCATION: Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital – Waimea, Kaua’i, HI
FUNCTIONS: This position is located in the Respiratory Therapy department of Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH). KVMH, Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), and The Kaua’i Region Clinics, which consist of The Clinic at Waimea, The Clinic at Port Allen, The Clinic at Kalaheo, The Clinic/Urgent Care at Po’ipu, and the Clinic at Kapa’a are all part of the Kaua’i Region, Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i.
The Respiratory Therapy department provides the full range of respiratory therapy services to patients with respiratory disorders.
The Respiratory Therapist III is responsible for performing diagnostic assessments and prepares therapeutic treatment plans in providing complex respiratory therapy services; may provide all respiratory therapy services for a unit, center or facility; and performs other related duties as assigned. This position may be subject to working extended hours, weekends, and holidays. This position reports to the Respiratory Therapist IV, or its designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek.
Education: Applicants must have a baccalaureate degree in respiratory therapy from a school of respiratory therapy approved at the time of graduation by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
Licensure: A valid license with the State of Hawaii as a Respiratory Therapist at the time of appointment.
Certification: Current certifications from the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.
Respiratory Therapy Experience: One (1) year of professional experience as a Respiratory Therapist under medical supervision. The experience must have equipped the applicant with a full professional understanding of the evaluation, test, and treatment of respiratory therapy problems and the ability to develop and modify individual patient care plans.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be physically able to perform, efficiently and effectively, the essential duties of the position which typically require the ability to read without strain printed material the size of typewritten characters, glasses permitted, and the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, or the ability to compensate satisfactorily.
