POSITION TITLE: CLINIC ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR (REGIONAL)

STATUS: Exempt | Full-Time WITH Benefits (1.0 FTE)

SALARY: NEGOTIABLE

LOCATION: This is a regional position and is located in the Clinic Administration department of The Kaua’i Region Clinics, which consist of: The Clinic at Waimea, The Clinic at Port Allen, The Clinic at Kalāheo, The Specialty Clinic at Kalāheo, Urgent Care at Po’ipū, The Clinic at Līhu’e, and The Clinic at Kapa’a. Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH), Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), and The Kaua’i Region Clinics are part of the Kaua’i Region, Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC), a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i, operating statewide.

JOB FUNCTIONS: We are actively searching for a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our growing ‘ohana as our Clinic Administrative Director. This position crucial in the smooth operation of the administrative functions of the region’s employed and contracted physician practices including operations, procurement, corporate compliance, marketing, finance, physician compensation and reimbursement, human resources, medical and business information systems and planning and development. The Clinic Administrative Director is also responsible to oversee personnel with direct responsibilities for the specific functional areas of employed and contracted physician services and other functions as assigned by the Regional Chief Executive Officer and/or Regional Chief Medical Officer. This position is subject to travel to and from facilities within the region. The Clinic Administrative Director reports to the Regional Chief Medical Officer, position no. 109715, or its designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are credited based on a 40-hour workweek. All applicants are required to provide evidence of all applicable education, licenses, and certifications. 

Education: Masters Degree in Public Health and/or Hospital Administration or its equivalent preferred.

Specialized Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative work is required. Experience in physician practice contractual management or its equivalent preferred.

Certification: Must obtain Certified Director in Physician Practice Management certification within three (3) years of employment.

License: Valid, active driver’s license preferred. 

DESIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

Knowledge of: strong interpersonal communication skills, with extensive experience in physician practices; Health administration; issues and trends facing the healthcare industry, especially in a rural setting; administrative functions, principles, procedures and practices of physician contract services, organization and administration; operations and functions of multi-specialty physician practices; standards of group practice management associations; Federal, State and County Governments as related to physician contract services including Stark and procurement regulations, supervisory and safety practices, and public relations.

Skills/Abilities: High degree of initiative, judgment and discretionary skills necessary.  Able to analyze situations accurately and take timely, effective action.  Strong, well-developed organizational skills coupled with strategic vision to develop and manage multiple projects simultaneously, integrate priorities to achieve goals and objectives as established and fulfill deadlines. Proven success in reducing costs, improving processes, motivating personnel, achieving goals and managing organization change.  Strong background in interpersonal communication, quality improvement activity, team building, strategic planning and fiscal responsibility; dynamic, success-oriented entrepreneur, promoter negotiator, and team builder who delivers solutions based upon vision and proactive risk taking.  Communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing. Able to deal with stressful situations.  Must demonstrate the ability to handle changing priorities in a dynamic, fast paced environment.

Maintain good relationship with physicians, patients, visitors, employees and others; appear before various groups and individuals and articulate problems as they relate to the physician contract services, execute and implement plans and orders from the CEO; comprehend and interpret laws, statements and other communications; analyze and solve problems; prepare reports; coordinate physician contract functions and direct the work of others.

*NOTE: The compensation for paid holidays, vacation time and sick leave is based on a full-time equivalent (FTE) status for 8-hour workdays. If an employee’s FTE status is less than 1.0, the accrual of these benefits will be adjusted accordingly.
