FUNCTION: This position is located in the Kauai Region Clinics of Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Kauai Region. The Kauai Region Clinics consist of The Clinic at Waimea, The Clinic at Port Allen, The Clinic at Kalaheo, The Specialty Clinic at Kalaheo, The Clinic at Poipu, The Specialty Clinic at Kapaa, and Urgent Care at Poipu. KVMH, SMMH, and Kauai Region Clinics are part of the Kauai Region, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawaii, operating nine (9) facilities statewide.
Primary functions of the Clerical Supervisor IV: Business Applications Specialist includes the supervision and coordination of the activities necessary to leverage the Kauai Regional Clinic Practice Management (CPM) software system in order to support the activities within the Kauai Region Clinics; works cohesively with the Information Systems department to troubleshoot and resolve CPM software application system issues; participates in the planning and testing for system upgrades and enhancements and is the lead content expert for CPM applications; trains all Front Office Super Users for the CPM software application and facilities Front Office Super User meetings; manages the operations and workflow for the Clinicals and resolves clinical issues; will be responsible for the CPM integration of registration and scheduling workflows; assists Administration with major projects such as patient portal, automated appointment reminder system, digital patient check-in, online scheduling, and operational dashboards/data analytics and other duties as assigned. This position is supervised by the Clinic Administrative Director, or its designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hours.
Education: High School diploma preferred. College degree in Business Office Technology or Computer Science desired.
General Experience: Four and one-half (4 ½) years experience of responsible typing, stenographic, substantive clerical work, or any combination of these experiences which duties demonstrated knowledge of English grammar, spelling, arithmetic, common office appliances and equipment; and the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, carry out procedures in clerical work systems, speak and write simply and directly, observe differences in copy and proofread words and numbers quickly and accurately, and operate various kinds of office equipment. Medical billing, claims, coding software support, Project Management, ICD-10, meaningful use and knowledge of value-based purchasing reimbursement, or Cerner CPM experience desired. At least one (1) year experience troubleshooting healthcare billing system issues, assisting with and testing system upgrades and providing general subject matter expertise to leverage a CPM system.
Supervisory Experience: One (1) year of work experience which demonstrated the applicant’s knowledge of and ability to apply the principles, practices, techniques and methods of supervision including: (1) planning, organizing and directing the work of others; (2) assigning and reviewing work; (3) advising others on difficult work problems; (4) timing and scheduling work; and (5) training and developing employees.
Select Certification: Of the 4 ½ years of general experience, must obtain at least two (2) years of experience as a Patient Access Manager, Medical Billing Manager, or Practice Manager in a healthcare or physician clinic setting.
Certification: Certified Professional Biller or Medical Coder desired.
Knowledge of: The revenue cycle and medical billing processes; basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Ability to: Develop, design, and deliver training to end users; including the creation of training documentation and quick reference guides; excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing providing excellent customer service; excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities/tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be physically able to perform, efficiently and effectively, the essential duties of the position which typically require the ability to read without strain printed material the size of typewritten characters, glasses permitted, and the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, or the ability to compensate satisfactorily.
