JOB LOCATION: Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital – Waimea, Kaua’i, HI
FUNCTION AND LOCATION: This position is located in the Community Vaccination Clinic and services the hospital and all outpatient clinics for Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH). KVMH, Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), and Kaua’i Region Clinics, which includes Clinic at Poipu, Clinic at Kalaheo, Specialty Clinic at Kalaheo, Clinic at Port Allen, Clinic at Waimea, and the Specialty Clinic at Kapa’a are part of the Kaua’i Region, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, is a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i.
In order to meet the needs of the community while promoting a safe environment for all patients and staff, the Clerk IV (Screener) will be responsible for the screening of all patients, employees, visitors, vendors, and all other persons arriving to and departing from the facility according to our current COVID-19 screening requirements by taking temperatures and conducting brief questionnaires in order to obtain information around specific symptoms and exposure. In addition, this position also keeps track of the number of visitors per patient, ensures everyone entering the facilities is wearing a mask; assists with wayfinding including the ability to escort guests to their meeting destinations; addressees patients’ and visitors’ needs; ensures social distancing is maintained; reports and documents any suspected COVID-19 exposures; sanitizes working area and lobby; provides exceptional customer services; and any other duties as assigned.
The position may frequently require intense work activity and the ability to handle many clerical processes at one time while prioritizing functions. Position must interface with administration, providers, staff, public and private agencies and the community. High level of confidentiality required.
Position is subject to shifts, including work on the weekends/holidays and extended hours based on operational needs to provide staffing support services as needed. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Nursing, position no. 59040, or its designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek.
Certifications: None required.
Licensures: None required.
General Clerical Experience: Two (2) years of work experience which involved performance of a variety of clerical tasks which demonstrated knowledge of English grammar, spelling, arithmetic, common office appliances and equipment; and the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, carry out procedures in clerical work systems, speak and write simply and directly, compare words and numbers quickly and accurately, operate various kinds of office equipment.
Must demonstrate possession of Supervisory aptitude.
Desirable Qualifications: Ability to handle emergency situations in a calm manner; ability to communicate and work effectively with distraught or agitated individuals.

COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT
COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment for Hawaii Health Systems Corporation. After receiving a conditional offer of employment, all prospective new HHSC employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. New employees are required to provide confirmation of their full vaccination status by presenting their CDC vaccination card or VAMS Certificate prior to their start date.
