POSITION TITLE: CLINIC RECEPTIONIST I (REGIONAL)

STATUS: Permanent | Full-Time (1.0 FTE)

SALARY: $3,318 per month at 1.0 FTE | SR11 | BU03

LOCATION: These positions are regional and are located in The Kaua’i Region Clinics of Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Kaua’i Region, which consist of: The Clinic at Waimea, The Clinic at Port Allen, The Clinic at Kalāheo, The Specialty Clinic at Kalāheo, Urgent Care at Po’ipū, The Clinic at Līhu’e, and The Clinic at Kapa’a. Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH), Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), and The Kaua’i Region Clinics are part of a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i, operating statewide. JOB FUNCTIONS: We are actively seeking Clinic Receptionists who are enthusiastic and passionate about providing excellent customer service and working in a fast-paced environment. As a Clinic Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact to our patients and their families. Therefore, a friendly and welcoming demeanor is essential. You will be responsible for welcoming patients to the clinics or outpatient services unit; interview patients or accompanying parties to obtain required data; input information into computer system; schedule appointments, diagnostic studies, outpatient procedures and referrals; perform a variety of fiscal record keeping and clerical services; prepare, collect, file and maintain patient medical records; type and maintain related records; and performs other duties as required. In order to be successful in this role, attentiveness to detail and strong organizational skills are key. These positions report to the Clerical Supervisor IV (Regional), position no. 57323, or its designee.

Candidates must be available to work shifts, including on weekends and holidays. In addition, these positions are required to travel to and from any facility within the region as needed based on clinic operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements.  Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek. All applicants are required to provide evidence of all applicable education, licenses, and certifications. 

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Certification: None required.

Licensure: Possession of a current, valid State of Hawai’i driver’s license, Type 3 preferred.

General Experience: Two (2) years of professional work experience in responsible typing, stenographic, substantive clerical work, or any combination of these experiences in which duties demonstrated knowledge of English grammar, spelling, arithmetic, common office appliances, and equipment; and the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, carry out procedures in clerical work systems, speak and write simply and directly, observe differences in copy and proofread words and numbers quickly and accurately, and operate various kinds of office equipment; and ability to deal effectively with others in eliciting information and providing service.

Specialized Experience: None required. 

Substitution: An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for all of the General Experience required.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

Knowledge of: Office practices and procedures; grammar, spelling, punctuation, and word usage; use of standard office machines; techniques of interviewing others to obtain pertinent information.

Ability to: Make arithmetic computations; compare names and numbers rapidly and accurately; utilize pagers and overhead paging system, teleprocessing terminal, file materials numerically and alphabetically; follow oral and written instructions; deal tactfully and effectively with the public; work harmoniously with others; understand, explain and apply policies, procedures, rules, and regulations pertinent to patients receiving clinic medical care; keep matters confidential; interview others to obtain pertinent information.
