JOB LOCATION:  The Specialty Clinic at Kalaheo – Kalaheo, Kaua’i, HI

FUNCTION:  This position is located in The Specialty Clinic at Kalaheo of The Kaua’i Region Clinics, which also consist of The Clinic at Port Allen, The Clinic at Kalaheo, The Clinic at Po’ipu, The Specialty Clinic at Kapa’a, and Urgent Care at Po’ipu. KVMH, SMMH, and Kaua’i Region Clinics are part of the Kaua’i Region, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawaii, operating nine (9) facilities statewide.

The EVS Worker II performs routine manual work in cleaning and maintaining hospital facilities and also performs heavy lifting, cleans places and equipment which are not easily accessible, does simple building repair work and operates heavy industrial type cleaning equipment; and performs other related duties as assigned. This position may be scheduled to work weekends, holidays and evenings and will be under the direct supervision of the Environmental Services Superintendent.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge of: Practices, tools and materials used in janitorial work; knowledge of basic practices in methods of infection control, housekeeping protocols and procedures, safety, handling and disposal of waste preferred. 

Ability to: Lift and carry heavy furniture and equipment; understand and follow oral and written instructions; perform minor building repair and maintenance tasks; and safely operate heavy industrial type cleaning equipment. Ability to reference Material Safety Data Sheet to safely work with departmental chemicals; use small hand tools such as screwdrivers, hammers, and wrenches to perform the daily duties that are assigned; work independently and complete all job assignments on a daily basis preferred.

Physical and Medical Requirements: Applicants must be physically able to perform, efficiently and effectively, the essential duties of the position which typically require the ability to read without strain printed material the size of typewritten characters, glasses permitted, and the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, or the ability to compensate satisfactorily.
