POSITION TITLE: ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES WORKER II (HOUSEKEEPING)

STATUS: Part-Time | Temporary WITHOUT Benefits (0.50 FTE)

SALARY: $23.19 per hour | BC02 | BU01/61

LOCATIONS: These are regional positions that are located in the Environmental Services department of Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH), Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), and The Kaua’i Region Clinics of the Kaua’i Region, Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC), a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i. 

JOB FUNCTIONS: As the Environmental Services (EVS) Worker II, you will be responsible to perform routine manual work in cleaning and maintaining hospital facilities and also perform heavy lifting, clean places and equipment which are not easily accessible, do simple building repair work and operates heavy industrial type cleaning equipment; and performs other related duties as assigned. These positions are subject to working evenings, weekends, and holidays and may be assigned to float to provide services at other facility locations within Kaua’i Region based on operational needs. The EVS Workers report directly to the Administrative Services Officer I (Safety/Environmental Services), position no. 59875, or its designee. 

Candidates must be available to work shifts, weekends, and holidays, based on hospital/clinic operation needs. Services are provided 24/7.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements.  Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek. All applicants are required to provide evidence of all applicable education, licenses, and certifications. 

License: Valid motor vehicle operator’s license preferred.

Knowledge of: Practices, tools and materials used in janitorial work; knowledge of basic practices in methods of infection control, housekeeping protocols and procedures, safety, handling and disposal of waste preferred.

Ability to: Lift and carry heavy furniture and equipment; understand and follow oral and written instructions; perform minor building repair and maintenance tasks; and safely operate heavy industrial type cleaning equipment.  Ability to reference Material Safety Data Sheet to safely work with departmental chemicals; use small hand tools such as screwdrivers, hammers, and wrenches to perform the daily duties that are assigned; work independently and complete all job assignments on a daily basis preferred.
