JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES WORKER II
STATUS: Varies.
SALARY: $3,828 per month at 1.0 FTE | BC02 | BU01
LOCATIONS: HHSC Kaua’i Region – Kaua’i, HI
These positions are located in the Environmental Services / Housekeeping department of HHSC Kaua’i Region. Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH), Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), and The Kaua’i Region Clinics, which include: The Clinic at Waimea, The Clinic at Port Allen, The Clinic at Kalāheo, The Specialty Clinic at Kalāheo, The Clinic/Urgent Care at Po’ipū, and The Clinic at Kapa’a, are part of the Kaua’i Region, Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i.
The Environmental Services/Housekeeping department provides housekeeping services throughout the hospital and personnel quarters; maintains the hospital in a sanitary condition; cleans infectious and contaminated areas; provides pest control; picks up contaminated and other materials for disposal; and issues linen and office supplies.
JOB FUNCTIONS: The Environmental Services (EVS) Worker II performs routine manual work in cleaning and maintaining hospital facilities and also performs heavy lifting, cleans places and equipment which are not easily accessible, does simple building repair work, and operates heavy industrial-type cleaning equipment; and performs other related duties as assigned. The EVS Workers report directly to the EVS Superintendent I, position no. 59052, or its designee.
Candidates must be available to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays based on hospital/clinic operation needs. Services are provided 24/7.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek.
Knowledge of: Practices, tools, and materials used in janitorial work; knowledge of basic practices in methods of infection control, housekeeping protocols and procedures, safety, handling, and disposal of waste preferred.
Ability to: Lift and carry heavy furniture and equipment; understand and follow oral and written instructions; perform minor building repair and maintenance tasks; and safely operate heavy industrial-type cleaning equipment. Ability to reference Material Safety Data Sheet to safely work with departmental chemicals; use small hand tools such as screwdrivers, hammers, and wrenches to perform the daily duties that are assigned; work independently and complete all job assignments on a daily basis preferred.
Licensure: Current, valid motor vehicle operator’s license preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Applicants must be physically able to perform, efficiently and effectively, the essential duties of the position. Carry weight up to 50 pounds. Climb ladders to access areas that need to be cleaned; safely work at heights ups to 12 feet and not to exceed 20 feet.

COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT
COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment for Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation. After receiving a conditional offer of employment, all prospective new HHSC employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. New employees are required to provide confirmation of their full vaccination status by presenting their CDC vaccination card or VAMS Certificate prior to their start date.
