POSITION TITLE: REGIONAL COMPTROLLER

STATUS: Exempt | Full-Time WITH Benefits (1.0 FTE)

SALARY RANGE: $110,000 – $150,000 per year | BU00

LOCATION: This a regional position located in the General Accounting department of the Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Kaua’i Region, a public benefit corporation for the State of Hawai’i, which consists of Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH), Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH) and The Kaua’i Region Clinics, including The Clinic at Waimea, The Clinic at Port Allen, The Clinic at Kalāheo, The Specialty Clinic at Kalāheo, The Specialty Clinic at Kalāheo, The Clinic at Līhu’e, and The Clinic at Kapa’a.

The General Accounting department provides fiscal and management support services in controlling, verifying and regulating the fiscal activities of the region and its affiliates.  The Finance department prepares annual and biannual operating and capital budgets and maintains bookkeeping ledgers and other accounting systems as required by law, rules and regulations, for the control of cash, payment of bills, payroll, billing and collection of patient revenue, inventory, data collection, Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting, cost analysis and rate studies.  The department also ensures the completeness and accuracy of the residents’ patient trust records and to provide information on a timely basis to the billing and collection operation.

JOB FUNCTIONS: The Regional Comptroller is responsible for assisting with business development and financial strategy as well as the planning, organizing and directing of all financial activities for the Kaua’i Region including planning and/or implementing specific programs, policies and procedures; providing consultative and advisory services, financial reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, internal controls and auditing, and pro-forma and data analytical reviews.  This position also provides cash flow management and debt management and collections. This position requires travel to all facilities within Kaua’i Region and may be required to work on all shifts, weekends, and holidays. The Regional Comptroller reports to the Regional Chief Financial Officer (RCFO), position number 109672.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are credited based on a 40-hour workweek. All applicants are required to provide evidence of all applicable education, licenses, and certifications. 

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited (4) four-year college or university in accounting, finance, business, healthcare administration or related field.

Licensure: Current, valid type# 3 State of Hawaii driver’s license.

Certification: Current, valid certification as a Public Accountant (CPA) is highly desirable.

Experience: 5-10 years’ experience in financial management and leadership experience with a strong background in financial reporting, budget preparation and control, personnel administration and understanding of proper internal controls functions.  Proven track record in building and developing high performance teams.
