FUNCTION: The Kauai Regional office is located at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waimea, Kauai.
The Information Technology Department is responsible for the overall planning, analysis, development, improvement and evaluation of the Kauai Region’s information technology.
This position provides support for the Kauai Region of Hawaii Health Systems Corporation. This region currently includes Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH), Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), and Kauai Region Clinics (Waimea , Kalaheo, and Por Allen, Poipu, and Kapaa Clinic).
This position serves as a Financial Informaticist of the Information Technology Department and as the liaison between the users of the Kauai Region facilities and the vendors of financially automated systems. This position is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and assisting with development, on-going maintenance, evaluation, and optimization of our region wide electronic medical records system and other financial support systems.
All duties and responsibilities will encompass all entities under the Kauai Region. This position requires travel to all facilities within the Kauai Region and after hours work, including evenings and weekends. The position may be subject to long and irregular hours, with nights and holiday coverage as required. This position provides leave coverage for other members of the data processing team within the region.
The position reports to the IT Systems Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek.
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university. Major course work in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, or a closely related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Two and one half (2 ½) years of specialized experience in computer systems analysis which involved business analysis, design, documentation, and implementation of computer systems.
SELECT CERTIFICATION: Of the two and one half (2 ½) years of specialized experienced, must possess a minimum of two and a half (2 ½) years of experience in a hospital or health care setting (i.e. billing, patient financial services, reimbursement, or CDM). Cerner Community Works or Millennium experience preferred. Use of excel and access database is required.
