This position serves as the Business Analyst of the Data Processing department and as the liaison between the users of the Kaua’i Region facilities and the vendors of financially automated systems. This position is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and assisting with development, on-going maintenance, evaluation, and optimization of our region wide electronic medical records system and other financial support systems. All duties and responsibilities will encompass all entities under the Kaua’i Region. This position provides leave coverage for other members of the data processing team within the region. The position reports to the IT Systems Manager, or its designee.

Candidates must be able to work long and irregular hours, with nights and holiday coverage as required. In addition, candidates are subject to travel to all facilities within the Kaua’i Region based on hospital/clinic operation needs. Services are provided 24/7. 

JOB STATUS:  Permanent/Full Time (1.0 FTE)

LOCATION: This position is located in the Data Processing department of Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waimea, Kauai. KVMH, Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), and The Kaua’i Region Clinics, which consist of The Clinic at Waimea, The Clinic at Port Allen, The Clinic at Kalaheo, The Clinic/Urgent Care at Po’ipu, and the Clinic at Kapa’a are part of the Kaua’i Region, Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i.

The Data Processing department provides overall planning, analysis, development, improvement and evaluation of the Kauai Region’s information technology systems. Provides for integrated, computer-assisted recording, classifying, summarizing, and transmitting, storing and retrieving of clinical and management information.

SALARY: $4,692 per month at 1.0 FTE | SR22 | BU13

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements.  Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek.

Education: Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university. Major course work in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, or a closely related field preferred.

Experience:  Two and one half (2 ½) years of specialized experience in computer systems analysis which involved business analysis, design, documentation, and implementation of computer systems.

Select Certification: Of the two and one half (2 ½) years of specialized experienced, must possess a minimum of two and a half (2 ½) years of experience in a hospital or health care setting (i.e. billing, patient financial services, reimbursement, or CDM). Cerner Community Works or Millennium experience preferred. Use of excel and access database is required.

Licensure: Applicants must possess a valid license to drive in the State of Hawai’i.
