POSITION TITLE: PHYSICAL THERAPIST III (REGIONAL)
STATUS: Permanent | Full-Time WITH Benefits (1.0 FTE)
SALARY: $4,858 + $3,113 (shortage differential) per month | SR20 | BU13
LOCATION: This is a regional position located in the Rehabilitation Services department of the Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Kaua’i Region, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i. HHSC Kaua’i Region consists of Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH) and Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), both critical access hospitals; The Kaua’i Region Clinics; and its affiliates.
The Rehabilitation Services department provides comprehensive services in Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy to all patients and departments of the HHSC Kaua’i region facilities, including ICU, Acute, Behavioral Health, Swingbed, Long Term Care, SNF, and Outpatient at KVMH and SMMH.
JOB FUNCTIONS: We are actively searching for a highly motivated individual who is passionate about making an impact on patients’ lives and empowering them to achieve their best selves through personalized care and innovative treatment strategies to join our growing ‘ohana as one of our regional Physical Therapists.
As the Physical Therapist III, you will be responsible to to evaluate and treat patients as referred by a licensed physician and to restore these patients to the highest level of function possible during the hospital or outpatient treatment. This position requires travel on a regular basis to other facilities within the Kaua’i region facilities and clinics as assigned. The position reports to the Physical Therapist IV (Regional Rehabilitation Services Manager), position number 29281, or its designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are credited based on a 40-hour workweek. All applicants are required to provide evidence of all applicable education, licenses, and certifications.
License: Possession of a valid license with the State of Hawai’i as a Physical Therapist at the time of appointment; possession of a valid State of Hawai’i type# 3 driver’s license preferred.
Physical Therapy Experience: None required.
Certification: Current, valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Workers issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) at the time of appointment.
DESIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of: Anatomy, neuroanatomy, physiology, kinesiology and related sciences; principles and practices of physical therapy; the technical procedures and modalities of physical therapy; current treatment techniques including use and modification of appropriate therapy equipment and appliances; and available physical therapy resources in the community.
Ability to: Independently plan and administer physical therapy treatments based upon medical diagnosis; test for and evaluate clients’ physical limitations; explain physical therapy treatments and instruct clients and others in the application of the physical therapy procedures; deal effectively with patients; set up treatment schedules and determine when therapies should be discontinued; keep records and prepare reports; supervise sub-professional physical therapy personnel.

*NOTE: The compensation for paid holidays, vacation time and sick leave is based on a full-time equivalent (FTE) status for 8-hour workdays. If an employee’s FTE status is less than 1.0, the accrual of these benefits will be adjusted accordingly.
