The Patient Financial Counselor assesses and educates patients about their cost of care and financial liability; identifies uninsured and underinsured patients; links uninsured patients to available coverage through government and non-government programs; determines eligibility for hospital and Clinic sponsored financial assistance and charity care programs; collects required deposits from patients and guardians; and performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirement:  High school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s Degree from an accredited college preferred.

Specialized Experience: One (1) year of progressively responsible work experience involving extensive contact and understanding of public resources and eligibility requirements for qualification. Examples of qualifying experience are:

JOB FUNCTIONS: We are actively seeking for a passionate, skilled Registered Professional Nurse (RPN) IV to join our growing ‘ohana. Under the direction of the RPN V (Regional Nurse Manager – In-Service Education), this position assists with the planning, development, training, evaluation and coordination of in-service education for all hospital/clinic staff, agency, and volunteers. FUNCTION

This position is located in the Administration Section of Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH), Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), & Kauai Region Clinics. KVMH, SMMH, and Kauai Region Clinics are part of the Kauai Region, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawaii.

The Clinic Administrative Director is responsible for the administrative functions of the region’s employed and contracted physician practices including operations, procurement, corporate compliance, marketing, finance, physician compensation and reimbursement, human resources, medical and business information systems and planning and development. The Clinic Administrative Director shall also oversee personnel with direct responsibilities for the specific functional areas of employed and contracted physician services and other functions as assigned by the Regional Chief Executive Officer. Position is subject to travel to and from facilities within the region.

This position reports to the Regional Chief Executive Officer or designee.

FUNCTION: This position is located in the Waimea Obstetrics Department, Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH). The Obstetrics/Nursery unit provides all phases of nursing care involving prenatal care, disorders of pregnancy, complications of pregnancy, labor delivery, and care of the newborn and the mother. This position is responsible for the provision of professional nursing care to patients in accordance with accepted standards and hospital policy.

The primary function of this position provides acute nursing care and treatment services on a 24-hour basis and is responsible for the total age-specific nursing care of the newborn, adult/adolescent patient in the unit. In the event there are no patients in the unit, this position may be assigned to various units within the Nursing Services and may require cross training and floating as assigned. Position is also subject to a combination of 12 and 8-hour shifts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education Requirements: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

Experience Requirement: One-half year (1/2) of professional nursing experience.

Selective Certification Requirements: Of the six (6) months of professional nursing experience, six (6) months must have been in labor and delivery, antepartum and postpartum, and fetal monitoring. Applicants shall be restricted to those possessing the following:

Applicants are required to provide current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) at time of employment, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and STABLE (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Labs and Emotional Support), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within one (1) month of employment.

License Required: License to practice as professional nurse in the State of Hawaii. Applicants must submit evidence of current Hawaii RN licensure (a copy of valid license) at the time of appointment.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIRED:

KNOWLEDGE OF: Nursing theory and practice; biological, physical, social and medicinal sciences as related to nursing theory and practice; nursing techniques and procedures; nursing literature and current trends and developments in nursing.

The Patient Access Representative II is responsible for interviewing patients and/or accompanying parties to obtain patient demographic and insurance information. Other duties include transfer and discharging patients; switchboard and PA system duties; cashiering duties; and public relations duties. This position will be required to work shifts, weekends, and/or holidays in multiple locations within the facility to meet the needs of the patients.
