JOB LOCATION: Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii
FUNCTION: This position is located in the Quality Department of the Hawaii Health Systems Kauai Region. The Kauai Region consists of Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH), Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH) and Kauai Region Clinics as part of Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawaii. This position is regional and is required to travel between facilities on a regular basis.
This position serves as the Promoting Interoperability Coordinator (Meaningful Use)/Educator for the Kauai Region. This position also provides direct support to clinicians (physicians, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members) in their use of Health System technology including the electronic medical records (EMR); maintains consistent and reliable communication for enhancements, fixes and any new developments related to the EMR system as it pertains to Promoting Interoperability.
This position is responsible for the implementation, administration and maintenance of organizational compliance with governmental regulatory programs affecting healthcare information technology and payment systems. The position must maintain a working understanding of governmental regulatory programs and work collaboratively with a cross-functional team comprised of Quality, Acute Hospital Operations, Clinic Operations, Revenue Cycle and Information Technology. This position will assist Kauai Region in the planning and execution of all projects related to Promoting Interoperability including the coordination, monitoring and status reporting of all clinical and technological components related to the demonstration of promoting interoperability across the region. Responsibilities include direct support to Kauai Region clinicians (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, ancillary and other interdisciplinary team members) in their use of the EMR system and how it pertains to promoting interoperability; and serving as a liaison between the EMR system and EMR vendor for promoting interoperability to troubleshooting issues
This position reports to the Regional Chief Quality Officer.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are credited based on a 40-hour workweek.
Education Requirement: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. While not required, graduation from a nursing program with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.
Experience Requirement:
One and one-half (1 ½) years of professional nursing work experience.
Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader; or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory or administrative capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.
Selective Certification Requirements: Of the one and one-half (1 ½ ) years of professional nursing work experience, must have one and one-half (1 ½) years of clinical/technical EMR knowledge experience in either acute or critical access hospital. The required experience must have been gained within the past two (2) years.
Certification: Provide current Basic Life Support (BLS) within six (6) months of employment.
License Required: License to practice as professional nurse in the State of Hawaii. Applicants must submit evidence of current Hawaii RN licensure (a copy of valid license) at the time of appointment.
