JOB LOCATION: Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital – Waimea, Kaua’i & Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital – Kapa’a, Kaua’i
FUNCTION: This position is located in the Finance department of Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH), a critical access hospital located on the island of Kaua’i, serving as the Kauai Region Center which includes Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH) and Kauai Region Clinics, part of the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC), a public benefit corporation for the State of Hawaii.
The Assistant Administrator (Regional Comptroller) is responsible for assisting with business development and financial strategy as well as the planning, organizing and directing of all financial activities for the Kaua’i Region. This includes planning and/or implementing specific programs, policies and procedures; providing consultative and advisory services, financial reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, internal controls and auditing, and pro-forma and data analytical reviews. This position also provides cash flow management and debt management and collections. Position requires travel to all facilities within Kauai Region. Position may be required to work on all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are credited based on a 40-hour workweek.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited (4) four-year college or university in accounting, finance, business, healthcare administration or related field.
Experience: 5-10 years’ experience in financial management and leadership experience with a strong background in financial reporting, budget preparation and control, personnel administration and understanding of proper internal controls functions. Proven track record in building and developing high performance teams.
Certification: None required.
Licensure: CPA preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS
Must be physically able to perform, efficiently and effectively, the essential duties of the position which typically require the ability to read without strain printed material the size of typewritten characters, glasses permitted, and the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, or the ability to compensate satisfactorily. Subject to long and irregular hours; many interruptions.
Physical Requirements: Sedentary work; must be able to lift no more than 50 lbs. with assistance. Maximum and occasional lifting and/or carrying up to 25 lbs.
