The primary purpose of this position is for independently performing a variety of clerical tasks which include review, analysis, maintenance of HR records, providing clerical services and support assistance to the HR staff and performing other duties as assigned. This position requires travel to all facilities within the Kaua’i Region and will report directly to the Regional Chief Human Resources Officer (RCHRO), or its designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

JOB FUNCTIONS: The Purchasing Technician is responsible to purchase a wide variety of goods, equipment, supplies, materials, etc. for the Kaua’i Region, where the nature of the purchases made requires the substantial use of written requests for quotations or the preparation of specifications for routine formally advertised purchases.

This position will also be responsible for the actual purchase, lease, or rent of supplies, materials, equipment, services, etc., for the Kaua’i region through such means as purchase orders, petty cash, or charge accounts; will certify or verify the receipt of the purchased items and follow up on problems with orders, such as shortages, overages, damages, or items that do not meet specifications and obtain credit memoranda or other restitution form the vendor; checking and verifying invoices, re-computing extensions, verifying discounts, shipping costs, etc., and assuring that the proper tax is applied.

As this position is located in offices, warehouses, and both large and small storerooms, travel is required, on a regular basis, to and from different facilities within the region (KVMH, SMMH, or the Kaua’i Region Clinics) on a daily basis as directed. The function of the Imaging Department is to provide diagnostic imaging services, scheduled, or on an emergency basis, as required for the care and treatment of inpatients and outpatients, aged birth to death. Education Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree from an approved program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

Experience: One (1) year of experience as a staff Ultrasonographer in a clinical or hospital environment. One (1) year of work experience as a staff Echo Tech/Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer performing diagnostic cardiac examinations in a clinical or hospital environment.

Specialized Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience as a specialist of which at least a minimum of one (1) year of work experience must have been gained in each of two (2) or more of the following modalities: echocardiography and ultrasound in a clinical or hospital environment.

Certification Requirements: Registered American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) and Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or Health Care Provider must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.

License Required:  None required.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIRED:

Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge of imaging equipment, radiation and ultrasound physics, radiation safety, medical terminology and department protocols. The incumbent interacts with patients of all ages, the majority of interactions will involve the adult population.
