MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

This department also provides direct support to clinicians (physicians, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members) in their use of Health System technology including the electronic medical records (EMR); maintains consistent and reliable communication for enhancements, fixes and any new developments related to the EMR system; and serves as liaison with Information System team, vendors and other HHSC facilities.

JOB FUNCTIONS: As the IT Support Technician I, you will be responsible to serve as a liaison with the medical, clinical, and support staff of the Kaua’i Region facilities. This position assists the department with technical reporting, communications, policy and technical documentation, departmental programs, audits and surveys, and various projects for the IT Dept. This position supports computer operations such as documentation and maintaining logs. May be subject to long and irregular hours, with evening, night, and weekend coverage as required. This position provides leave coverage for other members of the data processing team within the region. This position reports IT Systems Manager I, position no. 57592 or its designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements.  Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek. All applicants are required to provide evidence of all applicable education, licenses, and certifications. 

Education: Graduation from high school or GED.

Licensure: Current, valid type# 3 driver’s license preferred.

Certification: None required.

Specialized Experience: Must obtain at least one (1) year experience in an Information Technology operational entity which demonstrated knowledge of computer components and involved the use of:

  • various mini and micro computer application programs (i.e., word processing, database, spreadsheets, electronic mail); and
  • peripheral equipment (i.e., laser printer, disk drives, UPS – uninterruptible power supply).

Select Certification: Of the one (1) year specialized experience, must currently possess at least one (1) year work experience and working knowledge in Laboratory services. 

KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES REQUIRED

Knowledge of: Working knowledge of program testing methods and procedures on a mini/micro, mainframe, network and/or other computer systems; and available resources to search for information in resolving computer-related problems.

Ability to: Assess system problems and take corrective action; write and edit basic procedure language; and recognize position limitations and refer matters to a IT Specialist when situations deviate from established procedures, or in instances in which normal or usual methods cannot be used.
