LOCATION: This is a regional position in the Dietary/Nutritional Services department of the Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Kaua’i Region, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i. The Dietary/Nutritional Services department prepares and serves meals to patients/residents, inclusive of special diets; prepares meals for and operates staff dining room; provides dishwashing and cleaning services; maintains sanitation and infection control in the dietary department; maintains food storage and control; maintains dietary records; includes staff development and education; maintains diet manual; and submits budgetary requirement for unit.

JOB FUNCTIONS: The Office Assistant IV (Regional) is responsible for performing a wide range of clerical functions where some originating and planning of work are called for. Some decision making is required because problems are often not covered by standard instructions or established techniques, systems, or procedures. There are also frequent requirements for intense work activity and information, which is restricted to specific persons, which may include information on planned changes in internal operations and policies, procedures, and contemplated personnel actions. There is regular contact with others within and outside the department in which tact is required, and the employee assumes responsibility for harmonious relationships. The position will perform moderately complex to highly complex clerical functions in product ordering, records management, and data input services, as well as, relief cashiering duties for the department. The position will maintain payroll records assuring that time sheets are appropriately completed, assist the department with clerical tasks and record keeping, and performs other duties as assigned. The position will also assist with the organization’s catering services program. The Office Assistant IV (Regional) may be required to travel to and from the different facilities within the region as needed.

The Office Assistant IV (Regional) reports to the Regional Director of Nutrition and Food Services Operations (RDNFSO), position no. 109829, or its designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

The PFS department plays a critical role in managing our clinically driven revenue cycle system, which supports the organizational goals and overall financial health of the Kaua’i Region. It is the central hub where clinical and financial data is merged through interdepartmental collaboration, technology, and patient satisfaction; is responsible for a variety of revenue cycle services including admitting and registration (patient access), patient accounting, financial counseling, payer negotiations, price transparency, charge description master management, denials management, health information management, and financial informatics; coordinates activities related to payer credentialing, provider enrollment, claims management, payments, credit balances, insurance reimbursement, and self-pay management in accordance with Federal, State, and other regulatory requirements.  

JOB FUNCTIONS: The Denials Management Representative is responsible for managing the timely and accurate follow-up and appeal of denials/rejections received from third-party payers. This position will manage assigned work to ensure payer appeal/filing deadlines are met and achieve optimal payment for services rendered throughout the region; handles tasks related to analyzing, appealing, resolving denied insurance claims, and managing outside vendors hired to assist with revenue cycle management (RCM) activities, including reviewing denials, identifying reasons for denials, preparing and submitting appeals, communicating with payers to resolve issues, tracking appeals to ensure timely resolution and identify denial trends to implement strategies to reduce future denials. This position may be required to report to and from the different facilities within the region as needed and may be subject to long and irregular hours.

The Denials Management Representative will also assist in the training and development of the Patient Financial Navigator as well as hospital and clinic registration staff.  This training and develop is essential to assist in preventing denials due to errors or inaccuracies obtained during the registration process and will help optimizing the claim scrubbing process and workflows to improve our overall clean claim rate.

LOCATIONS: This is a regional position that is located in the Health Information Management (HIM) department of the Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Kaua’i Region, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i. HHSC Kaua’i Region consists of Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH) and Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), both critical access hospitals; The Kaua’i Region Clinics; and its affiliates.

The HIM department manages patient medical records, compiles essential statistics for cost analysis and service optimization, and oversees records management, including disease coding, birth documentation, and regulated record dissemination for ongoing care, insurance, and legal use.

JOB FUNCTIONS: The Clinical Documentation Specialist (Outpatient) (Regional) utilizes advanced coding and clinical expertise to direct efforts toward the improvement of clinical documentation through the roles of educator and consultant; facilitates improvement in the overall quality, completeness, and accuracy of medical record documentation through extensive record review; performs the daily review, analysis and coding of patient records; monitors coding for quality control; codes diagnosis and procedures; reviews and analyzes medical records; also trains new coders and any other duties as assigned.

This position has extensive interaction with physicians and other members of the healthcare team; achieves appropriate clinical documentation to support the medical necessity and level of services rendered to all patients; as well as participates in the development and delivery of education for providers and members of the healthcare team; identifies factors influencing and complexity and severity of patient diagnoses; work collaboratively with providers in the ambulatory setting to ensure overall specificity, accuracy, and completeness of clinical documentation to support the highest integrity of the medical record.

This is a regional position based in the Radiology-Diagnostic departments within HHSC Kaua’i Region, encompassing KVMH, SMMH, and the Kaua’i Region Clinics, which include: The Clinic at Waimea, The Clinic at Port Allen, The Clinic at Kalāheo, The Specialty Clinic at Kalāheo, The Urgent Care at Po’ipū, The Clinic at Līhu’e, and The Clinic at Kapa’a, all under the public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i. 

The Radiology-Diagnostic departments offer diagnostic imaging services for inpatients and outpatients of all ages, from birth to death, on scheduled or emergency basis as needed for care and treatments. Their duties encompass a range of procedures, including but not limited to diagnostic radiography, computed tomography (CT) scans, teleradiography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and ultrasonography.  

We are actively seeking for a skilled Imaging Multiple Modality Specialist (Regional) with a focus on Ultrasound and Vascular procedures to join our growing organization! This position requires those with strong technical skills and knowledge in operating imaging equipment. As an Imaging Multiple Modality Specialist, you will be responsible to produce two and three-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs, performs a variety of diagnostic procedures using ultrasound equipment, for use by physician in diagnosis of diseases and study of malfunction of organs. This position is subject to work rotating shifts, including on weekends, holidays, and may require standby and call back duty.  Additionally, may require providing coverage at KVMH, SMMH and The Urgent Care at Po’ipū. The Imaging Specialists report directly to the Regional Director of Imaging, position no. 20896, or its designee.

Candidates must have flexibility availability based on hospital/clinic operations as services are provided 24/7.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

Also, please see below the additional requirements according to the level of the position. All applicants are required to provide evidence of all applicable education, licenses, and certifications. 

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an approved program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Excess work experience as described below in the experience requirement section which provided knowledge, skills, and abilities comparable to those acquired in four (4) years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. To be acceptable, the experience must have been of such scope, level, and quality as to assure the possession of comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licensure: Current State of Hawai’i Radiologic Technologist license as a radiographer; Current, active type# 3 driver’s license preferred.

Certification: Current certification issued by the Registered American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS); AND Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) for Health Care Providers issued by the American Heart Association must be provided at the time of appointment.

Experience: One (1) year of experience as a staff Ultra sonographer performing General, OB/Gyn and Vascular exams in a clinical or hospital environment. 

Specialized Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience as a specialist of which at least a minimum of one (1) year of work experience must have been gained in each of two (2) or more of the following modalities: echocardiography and ultrasound in a clinical or hospital environment.

Knowledge of: Thorough knowledge of imaging equipment and physics of specialized imaging procedures, safety, medical terminology and department protocols. Thorough knowledge of standard precautions, hospital policies and procedure, rules and regulations, government regulatory requirements and accrediting standards. Basic knowledge of Cross-Sectional Anatomy required.

Ability to: Perform a full range of specialized imaging procedures in a specific specialty independently and provide instruction regarding specialized imaging procedures and radiation safety to lower-level specialists and other health care providers.

LOCATION: This position is located in the Skilled Nursing Care, or Long Term Care (LTC), department at Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH) of the Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Kaua’i Region. KVMH, along with Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH) and The Kaua’i Region Clinics, are all part of a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i.

The Skilled Nursing Care department administers nursing services to patients requiring a skilled and intermediate level of nursing care, generally, those who also require palliative treatments and comfort measures. 

JOB FUNCTIONS: The Per Diem Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) is responsible for providing direct patient care through the performance of a variety of nursing support tasks in accordance with established methods and procedures. The incumbent of this position will be subject to rotating shifts, including work on weekends/holidays, and may be assigned to assist other departments in the facility as needed and may also provide home care for patients.
